The 2nd Tuesday Lives On! is continuing to push updates out for its operating systems on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.  The little blue icon is the one to look for if you’re running Windows Vista, 7 or 8.  Windows 10 tends to take care of itself.  Just be sure you’re installing those updates if asked, along with the others if their icon in the task tray looks like on in the photo.  Stay safe.

Do You STILL Need Me To Remind You?

image2nd Tuesday of the month is when Microsoft pushes out updates for Windows and it’s other products.

If you see any of the images below in your task tray (and if you don’t know by know where your task tray is – contact me and I’ll show you with no embarrassment.)

Do You Hear Those Update Calling?

imageThe 2nd Tuesday of the month has come and gone, and guess what’s waiting for you?  Windows updates!  Oh boy!!!

More significantly, this is the first month Windows XP will NOT get patched.  The importance of this is many of the fixes being applied to Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 would ALSO apply to Windows XP, but since support has ended for XP, the bad guys and licking their chops just waiting for users who are still running XP to swing by one of the web sites they’ve infiltrated.

Of course, if you’re running Vista, 7 or 8 and HAVEN’T got the updates on your computer, then you’re just as vulnerable.  If your system is set up correctly, critical updates should automatically get applied.  If it’s not or you don’t know how to check, then find my phone number on this site and call me.

AND also, don’t forget about keeping your Java, Acrobat and Flash up to date.

Do I Need to Say It?

imageYep, check that lower right corner of your screen for updates that need to be done.  Microsoft pushed 10 updates that fixed 32 issues this month.

If you MUST use Java, then be sure to keep it up to date because that still is a primary means of getting infections onto your computer.

If you haven’t read the article on my “3 Secrets to Avoiding Viruses and Malware” then now might be a good time.  Oh, and guys, if you need any more reasons to stay away from porn sites, they are FILLED with viruses and that little trip for a free peek could end up costing you plenty just getting your computer cleaned up – so please think twice.

Our Favorite Day of the Month is Here! Hooray!

imageWant to avoid getting viruses and other malware?  Then keep your software up to date.  It’s the second Tuesday of the month, and that means Microsoft is pushing updates to its operating systems and other software.  Windows XP users look for the yellow shield.  Windows Vista and Windows 7 users look for the blue logo.  If your computer doesn’t automatically update, you’ll see those icons in your task tray (in the lower right corner usually) The orange/brown icon is for Java, and the red icon is imageAdobe Acrobat Reader.  You may not see these icon in the next day or two, but you’ll see them at some point so be aware of them when they do.  These indicate FIXES to security problems that have been discovered.  They update quickly, so don’t click on “remind me later” or anything like that, just do the update and stay safe.  The same goes for Adobe Flash, when you get the message that looks like the image to the left (often right after you start your computer) by all means perform the update.

It’s the 2nd Tuesday of the Month. Do You Know Where Your Updates Are?

imageThat’s right boys and girls, Microsoft has published a few new updates for your Windows and you want to be sure they get installed.  Hopefully you’re set up for automatic installation, but if not you’ll see either the yellow shield (XP) or blue icon (Vista and Windows 7).  Click on them and install the updates.

And of course, throughout the month always be on the imagelookout for updates to Java and Adobe’s Flash and Acrobat Reader.

These are SECURITY updates and the bad guys are hoping you WON’T apply these patches.  Do yourself a favor and disappoint the bad guys by installing the updates as soon as you see the icons in your task tray.

Woo Hoo! It’s the 2nd Tuesday of the Month! (you know what that means don’t you?)

imageThat’s right boys and girls, that day we look forward to each month arrives tomorrow, the 2nd Tuesday of the month!  If you’re asking yourself “what’s the big deal about the 2nd Tuesday of the month?” then I’ll hope you’re new to my site.

The 2nd Tuesday of the month is when Microsoft pushes updates to its Windows operating system.  So look for the icon in your task tray, also look for updates from Adobe as well as Sun (for Java.)  The others don’t necessarily follow the 2nd Tuesday model, but Microsoft is very reliable.

And as a reminder, these updates FIX FLAWS in Windows that that bad guys will be exploiting on web sites by Thursday, so don’t put it off.  I still hear way too often from people how they are afraid to install the update.  You should be afraid of NOT installing the updates.  If you want you can always go to to check for the latest version of Flash and Reader if you don’t trust the warning when you get it.

The Updates are Here! The Updates are Here!

imageimageimageimageWell, the second Tuesday of the month has arrived, that means it’s time to get those security updates for your computer.  Microsoft will have a large number of updates, and I just got a notice on my own system of an update for Java.  I’m expecting to see updates for Adobe Acrobat and Flash as well.

Remember with the updates coming out today, the bad guys will be exploiting UNPATCHED systems tomorrow, so don’t put it off.

AND… be sure to only update from within the application or the task tray icon.  I got an email today from “Adobe” (it really wasn’t) telling me do download the upgrade.  Do I need to say it again?  NEVER click on links or attachments in email unless you know who it’s from and you are expecting it.  Adobe doesn’t have your email from Reader, and they are not going to send you a message telling you to update.

So look for those update icons, and update, update, update!

Look For Your Windows Updates!

Here it is again, the 2nd Tuesday of the month.  That can mean only one thing….. Windows Updates!!!  (Try to contain your excitement.)

Today’s the day Microsoft publishes its monthly updates to Windows and other Microsoft products.  If you have automatic updates enabled, they will download and install automatically.  Many of you may have it set to download but NOTIFY you before installing.  In this case you’ll see the notification icon in your taskbar tray (that thing in the lower right corner of your screen.)

Be sure to install them.  As soon as you get the updates, so do the bad guys and they’ll figure out how to exploit those computers that DON’T get updated.
