The ONLY Place to Buy Your Cables

imageI don’t care if you need an HDMI cable for your DVD player or television, USB cables for your printer or smartphone, speaker cables for your home theater or even network cables for your home network, the place to buy your cables is Monoprice.com.

Just for fun I’ll do some sample price checking for you.  Let’s say I just bought a new Blu-Ray player and need an HDMI cable.  If I go right now to BestBuy.com to look for one, I see the price is….  $13 for their cheapie house brand.  Their “high-speed” cable is $30.  Monoprice’s “high-speed” cable is $3.28.

Perhaps that 6’ VGA cable that connects your monitor to your computer isn’t really long enough, especially since you would like to move the computer farther away.  Walk into BestBuy and the cheapest and you’ll pay $60 for a 16’ cable by Monster Cable.  If you’re lucky enough to live close to a Fry’s, you can get a 10’ VGA extension cable for only $9.  At Monoprice, a 15’ heavy-duty cable is only $4.74.

Don’t ask me how they do it.  Their shipping charges are on par with most other places and their web-site and service are excellent.  They also carry adapters, iPhone cables, antennas, security cameras and more.  Check them out and bookmark the site.

DEAL: Huge 27.5” Monitor for $259 – Free Shipping

imageThis is a one-day special for today (Cyber Monday – the Monday after Thanksgiving) from Newegg for a great deal on a really big 27.5” monitor.  It has VGA, DVI and HDMI inputs so it will take whatever you have for a source, computer or DVD player.  The resolution is 1920×1200 which in my opinion is just an ideal size for computers, not too wide and not too tall (I wish my own monitors were this resolution.)  And more good news, it comes with a 3-year warranty.  Don’t expect to get a better deal before Christmas on a monitor this size.  Here’s the link:  http://bit.ly/TekChic0238

DEAL: 27.5” Monitor – $250

imageIf you need a BIG monitor, here’s one for you.  Tiger Direct has this 27.5” monitor for $250, that’s about what you’d pay for a 25” monitor on sale.  It’s a big 1920×1200 resolution and has both VGA and HDMI inputs.

DEAL: 25” Monitor–$169

imageTiger Direct has this big 25” monitor for only $169.  It has HDMI inputs so if you want you could hook up a Blu-Ray player and watch a full HD movie on it, but of course you’ll want to just plug it into your computer.  It also has built-in speakers, which if their like most speakers in monitors will only be so-so, but that’s just the way it is.  A monitor this size under $200 is a real deal, they tend to cost around $250 or more.  The vast majority of reviews are very favorable.  Don’t take too long thinking about it though, I would imagine they’ll sell out at this price by Monday or Tuesday.  Here’s the link:  http://bit.ly/TekChic0213

DEAL: 25” Monitor for $180

imageNewegg has this Hans-G 25” monitor on sale for $190, and when you use the coupon code EMCZYZX57 at checkout you save another $10 and shipping is FREE (and if you live outside of California probably no sales tax as well.)  You may not have heard of Hanns-G, but Newegg customers (pretty much all geeks) have given it 71 positive reviews and virtually NO negative reviews, which is pretty rare for any device.

Most 25” are going to run you close to $250 or more, so this is a great price on a full HD compatible monitor for your computer.  It has the standard computer inputs as well as HDMI, meaning you could connect this directly to a cable or satellite box with HDMI outputs.
