Want a 7” Tablet? Meet the Nexus 7 by Google

imageGoogle’s Nexus 7 is simply the best 7” tablet available right now and it only costs $199 – that’s the amazing part.  This has a lot more power than the Amazon Kindle Fire.  It has a quad-core processor, 1GB of memory and 8GB of storage (for an extra $50 you can double the storage to 16GB – it’s probably worth it.)  It comes with built-in wi-fi and Bluetooth, it’s very thin and light being only .41” inches thick and weighs only 12 ounces, and is the only device being sold right now with the latest version of Android (called Jelly Bean.)  It has a 1280×800 resolution display, and right now comes with a $25 credit toward the Google Play store where you can buy music, movies, apps, books and more.

Want to buy a Kindle Fire because you want to read books you buy from Amazon?  Download the free Kindle app from the Play store and you can do all the reading you like and you’ll be doing it on a better device for the same price.

Plenty of Updates for Everyone! Yee Haw! know this is the highpoint of your month, so I won’t keep you in suspense any longer.

OK, that was a little over the top, but folks, I’m trying everything I can to get you at least ONCE a month to think about the security of your computer, and be to install those updates when they appear on your taskbar tray.   If you’re reading this and know what legitimate apps look like, then you should really be afraid NOT to install them.  Delaying them even 2 or 3 days can leave you open to virus attacks that your anti-virus software won’t be able to stop or may not even know about.

imageSecond Tuesday of the month?  That’s when Microsoft pushes updates to Windows and other Microsoft products to you.  If you and auto-update turned on you may not even see the yellow shield (XP) or the blue box icon (Vista and Windows 7.)  Throughout the month you may see the Java coffee cup icon or the Adobe Acrobat or Flash icons – DO THE UPDATES!  It breaks my heart when my own clients get a virus when it’s totally preventable.  Please don’t be one of them.

Don’t Panic–The World ISN’T Coming to an End

imageIt’s on the news, people are talking about – THOUSANDS are going to lose their Internet on Monday.  Well, I doubt very many, and certainly no one who reads my blog.  I wrote about this a month and a half ago, so rather than go on another rant – just go back to that post where I call the F.B.I. idiots:
