The New iPhone 5 Will Be Announced October 4th

imageNo, I’m not psychic, but the rumor mill has dug up some pretty convincing evidence that Apple’s CEO Tim Cooke will be presenting the new iPhone 5 during an event on October 4th.  The location of the event isn’t known yet, and the usual places in San Francisco are already booked by Oracle so right now the biggest secret seems to be WHERE the announcement will be made from.  It’s a safe assumption that the phone will be available a couple of weeks after that.  AT&T and Verizon will of course get them and there has been strong speculation that Sprint will also be getting the new phone as well, but if they treat Sprint like they treated Verizon they may make Sprint wait a few more months before getting it – we shall see.

As far as exactly WHAT the new phone will be like or even if it will be called the iPhone 5, no one knows for sure.  I’ll let you know as soon as I hear more.

Droid 3 Phone Comes to Verizon this Saturday

imageThis is going to a summer full of new Android phones coming out.  This Saturday Verizon is getting the Droid 3 by Motorola.  What it HAS is a full, slide-out qwerty keyboard that they claim is the thinnest on the market.  What it does NOT have it Verizon’s “4G” LTE service – so if you’re looking for fast Internet then there are better choices.  Like the newer generation phones it has a dual-core processor, and has a “gorilla-glass” screen to be nice and tough, an 8 megapixel rear camera, takes 1080p video and also has a front facing camera for video calls and video messaging.  It also has a 4” screen and comes with the latest version of Android.  The contract price is $199, so if you’re looking for something to replace your sluggish Droid 2, this might be just what you’re looking for.  Here’s the link to the Droid 3 page on Motorola’s site: http://bit.ly/TekChic0380

The White iPhone is Here! The White iPhone is Here!

imageIt been a long wait for some people who were expecting a white iPhone to arrive last June with the introduction of the iPhone 4.  And then the hope that maybe the Verizon version would be available in white at the February launch.  But no, those who long to be different, who want other people to know that they have the latest and greatest toy have had to suffer until now, as Apple announced two days ago that the white iPhone was now available.  Believe it or not there actually were long lines reported at the Manhattan Apple store.  I guess not surprisingly there are a LOT of black iPhone 4’s on eBay and they are still selling for around $450, so I guess if you’re willing to walk into an AT&T or Verizon store and cough up the big bucks to “upgrade” to the white iPhone, you can get a decent chuck of that money back selling your old one.

Verizon Announcing iPhone 4 Tomorrow (Tuesday)

imageWell, the word seems to be that Verizon is announcing tomorrow that they’re getting the iPhone 4.  Before you head to your nearest Verizon store, keep in mind that this is the iPhone 4, the same model that has been out for 7 months now.  In June it’s expected that Apple will announce the iPhone 5, which will certainly have more features and power.  So before signing up for that 2-year contract, you might think about waiting a few months for the next version of the iPhone.

iPhone Coming to Verizon Next Week or Next Month

imageDepending on who you listen to, the iPhone is coming to Verizon either next week or next month.  Of course, Verizon carrying the iPhone has been the most popular rumor for the last year, and several predicted dates have come and passed.  Apple has a history of disrupting news than might come out of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas (CES), so this this, it might actually be true.  If you’re dead-set on getting an iPhone, you might wait a couple of weeks to see what develops.  If it does show up on Verizon, I would think the AT&T iPhone would suddenly get cheaper.  If it’s the same phone, then just choose your network.  But perhaps it’s an improved version of the iPhone 4.  I’ll let you know if this turns out to be fact or fiction.

Is the Verizon iPhone Coming in January?

imageThe hope of an iPhone on Verizon has been a rumor for almost a year now.  CNet is expecting an announcement around CES (the Consumer Electronics Show) to be held the first week of January.  Click on the link to read their take on Apple’s iPhone finally coming to Verizon:  http://bit.ly/TekChic0263

Verizon Gets the iPad October 28.

image It’s confirmed that Verizon is getting the wi-fi (not 3G) iPad starting October 28 (can the iPhone be far behind?)  Of course, you can get the wi-fi iPad today at Best Buy and Target (and Wal-Mart starting today).  The price is pretty much the same no matter where you buy it.  Verizon is offering a “mi-fi” card that connects to Verizon’s 3G network and with that you can connect the iPad (and other devices like laptops) via wi-fi.  The nice thing about Verizon’s mi-fi is that you can pay as you go on a month-by-month basis, no contract.

I think this actually says more about the “fact” that Apple and Verizon are working together and that all the rumors about the iPhone finally coming to Verizon are about to become true.  For me, I’m still keeping my Android phone.
