Deal: Lenovo 17.3” Laptop with Core i7 for $769

imageLenovo has their Z710 desktop replacement for $769.  If you have an old Window XP machine and are wanting to (you really NEED to) upgrade to a new system, this is a good one.  You can use it at home and yet being a laptop you can take it with you when you travel.

Great Deal on a Basic Laptop

imageHere’s a really good deal on a basic laptop at Best Buy.  It comes with an Intel Core i3 (the minimum I recommend, though there are lesser ones out there,) 4GB of memory, a 500GB hard drive, 15.6” LED backlit screen, webcam, DVD burner, numeric keypad, fast wired and wireless networking in a package less than 5 lbs.  All for only $369.

This is a great laptop for your email, web browsing, word processing, etc.

So if you’re in the market for a new laptop and don’t want to spend too much money, this is the one for you.  Here’s the link: http://goo.gl/118Rq

Great Deal on a Lenovo Laptop

imageOfficeMax has the Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 on sale for only $479!  Lenovo makes some of the best laptops around (they bought the IBM PC division several years ago.)  They still make great computers and here is one that very recently you would have paid $600 for.  This has an Intel Core i5 processor (VERY nice) , 15.6” screen, 500 GB hard drive, 6GB of memory, webcam, 2 USB 3.0 ports and 2 USB 2.0 ports (USB 3.0 is the newer, MUCH faster USB specification.)  Oh, it has a great keyboard also (you’ll appreciate it once you type on it.)

You absolutely won’t go wrong with this laptop.  If there is a downside, it comes with the newest version of Windows (Windows 8) which I’m not wild about, but it very easy to get to a more familiar interface, so don’t let it put you off.

Here’s the link to their web site – it’s available in many stores too so you can touch it first:  http://goo.gl/ZCbvZ

If You’re on a Really Tight Budget, Here’s a Laptop

imageThis wouldn’t be my first choice for a laptop, but if your budget is really tight and you absolutely need to get one, then this is what I recommend:

Best Buy has this Asus laptop for only $309 with an Intel Core i3 processor.  It has a 320GB hard drive, 4GB of memory, a CD/DVD burner, high speed wireless, USB 3.0 inputs and a memory card reader.

Check it out online – you’ll have to order it as they don’t have it in store:  http://goo.gl/q1R7B

Big Bad Dell Laptop under $700!

imageDell has their 17.3” XPS laptop with an Intel Core i5 processor on sale for only $689.99 when you add the coupon code
7WR1C2?HTTQQ11 at checkout.  This is the XPS series, not their entry level Inspiron series.  This is a very nice laptop with 6GB of memory, and huge 750GB hard drive, a BACKLIT keyboard (very nice), an NVidia graphics card, DVD burner, high-speed wired and wireless networking and JBL audio.

This isn’t a small laptop, 17.3” is a big laptop and it weighs about 7.5 lbs.  If you’re looking for something small and very portable, this isn’t it.  But for price/performance/features with a nice big screen – this is a winner.  Oh, and they are offering free shipping on this as well.  Here’s the link:  http://goo.gl/gQvtQ (don’t forget to add the coupon code to save an additional $100.)

Lenovo Deals on High-Power Laptops

imageLenovo has a deal on their Z series 15.6” laptops with the Intel Core i5 and i7 processors.  All the laptops have a HD display, 8GB of memory, a 500GB hard drive, webcam, DVD burner, built-in Wi-Fi, built-in Bluetooth and HDMI out.  The Core i5 is a dual-core processor that can clock up to 3.1 GHz and the Core i7 is a quad-core also able to run up to 3.1 GHz.

Lenovo makes excellent laptops and is known for paying attention to things like the keyboard and it’s feel.  The i5 version is $599 and the i7 is $699.  So if you’re thinking up upgrading to a nice laptop, I’d jump on these.

DEAL: Performance Laptop on a Budget

imageGateway is not what I would call a top-tier builder.  They were bought by ACER and a Lenovo or Dell would probably be a better built PC.  That being said, getting an Intel Core i5 processor in a laptop for $449 is a GREAT deal.  This laptop has 4GB of memory, a 500GB hard drive, plenty of USB ports including one USB 3.0 high-speed port, an HDMI port, a memory card reader, DVD/CD burner and built-in web-cam.

If you need a rugged laptop, then you probably need to spend more, but if you’re gentle with your computer and maybe most the of the time your laptop actually just sits there on a table or desk, then this would be a great deal.  Check it out at Best Buy (of all places): http://bit.ly/TekChic0418

Deal: Basic Lenovo Laptop for Only $299

imageIf you’re on a really tight budget and need a basic but capable laptop, then this is an excellent choice.  Best Buy has a Lenovo 15.6” laptop with a dual-core Intel processor for only $299.  Though this isn’t quite as fast as the newer i3 processor, it’s close and the other components inside are still utilizing the latest technologies.  The laptop comes with 3GB of memory, a 320GB hard drive, a memory card reader, high-speed wireless-n, even a web-cam and a can output via HDMI to your television.  Here’s the link to Best Buy’s site where you c an check to see if it’s in stock at a nearby store:  http://bit.ly/TekChic0416

DEAL: Gateway Core i5 Laptop for $449

image Now be advised, I consider Gateway (owned by ACER) along with HP, Toshiba, ASUS and others to be 2nd tier compared to the cream of the crop, who these days is Dell and Lenovo.  That being said, this is a great price for a laptop with this kind of power and this kind of storage – that’s why I’m telling you about it.

Best Buy has this Gateway laptop with an i5 processor, 500GB hard drive, 720p HD display, built-in webcam, HDMI port, gigabit Ethernet network port and wireless-n connectivity.

For the price, this is a great deal.  It comes with a one year warranty, and if it doesn’t break in the first couple of months you’re probably ok.

Gateway isn’t the same company you may be thinking of from 10 years ago, but it’s not a horrible company or I wouldn’t be telling you about this deal (just try to find the last time I recommended an HP laptop.)
